Spotlight: Nobel Yosef

Q: Tell us about yourself!
A: I’m Nobel, and I’m originally from Ethiopia. I have been working as a Software Engineer at Kitestring since August 2022.

Q: What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
A: Outside of work, I love to stay active! Soccer, hitting the gym, cycling, and taking walks outdoors are some of my favorite things to do.

Q: What led you to this career? Were you influenced by anyone or anything?
A: My passion for software engineering began with my IT teacher, Mr. Ephrem, in the 5th grade. He inspired me with his innovative teaching methods and passion for technology. Thanks to his guidance and mentorship, I discovered my love for programming and decided to pursue a career in software engineering.

Q: What are you most proud of accomplishing since joining Kitestring?
A: My favorite achievement so far has been working on a ticket that involved the automated conversion of a Scala model class to a Kotlin model class. This ticket opened my eyes to the possibilities of automated conversion and the power of modern software tools. Before working on this ticket, I had no idea that such kind of thing was even possible.

Q: What’s one thing –industry-related or not – you learned in the last month?
A: I learned more about Splunk queries.

Q: What keeps you motivated?
A: Being part of a supportive and collaborative team that values my contributions and encourages me motivates me.

Q: Where is your favorite destination to travel to, and why?
A: Melissani Lake in Greece has been on my travel bucket list for a long time. As someone who always seeks out lakes and woods, I find that being in nature brings me a sense of peace that is hard to replicate anywhere else.

Q: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: I am living my childhood dream 😊

Q: What’s the best professional advice you’ve ever received?
A: The best professional advice I’ve ever received is to always stay curious and never stop learning.

Q: What, if anything, are you currently binge-watching? Or reading?
A: Currently, I am enjoying the Ozark series on Netflix. The show has a great storyline and keeps me engaged with its thrilling plot twists and excellent acting. In addition to that, I am reading the book “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki.

Q: What is your favorite part of working at our company?
A: What I love the most about working at Kitestring is the company’s genuine concern and care for its employees. It is truly heartwarming to be a part of an organization that values its staff and makes their well-being a top priority.
